Membership
Join the ITA
Every ITA member trains in a licensed club under a qualified instructor, holds national membership and is registered for competition and grading in ITF Taekwon-Do.
You do not join the Irish Taekwon-Do Association directly — you join through an ITA club. Your instructor registers you for national membership, licence and insurance once you start training.
Step by step
How to become a member
- 01
Find your nearest ITA club
Search the national club finder by town or county. Every listed club is affiliated to the ITA and led by a qualified, vetted instructor. - 02
Contact the club and arrange a first class
Most clubs run beginners intakes several times a year and will let you try a class before committing. Wear loose clothing — you do not need a dobok on day one. - 03
Start your beginners course
You will learn basic stances, blocks, kicks, the tenets of Taekwon-Do and how a class is structured before your first pattern. - 04
Register for ITA membership
Your instructor submits your membership and licence registration to the association. This covers your national registration and insurance for training and competition. - 05
Grade, compete and progress
Once registered you can be entered for colour-belt gradings, ITA tournaments, seminars and camps, and — in time — national black belt gradings and Team Ireland selection.
